Take advantage of the Discover Boating program and learn more about becoming a boater yourself.

New boat buyers can now benefit from the experience provided by boating professionals in selecting the best boat for their needs, finding local marine dealerships, or learning about new boating destinations. The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) has launched the Discover Boating program to help answer these and many other boating related questions. Discover Boating aims to benefit potential boaters and those that are new to the lifestyle with this interesting program.

NMMA operates a network of 14 mobile Discover Boating Centers that visit marinas, waterfront events, and boat shows throughout the United States and Canada. At these Centers, potential boaters can learn more about selecting the right boat for their budget, family, and intended waterborne activities. They can then face the myriad choices available to them in the boat market with a sense of positive self-assurance. Discover Boating also offers extensive on-line resources for boaters.

DiscoverBoating.com offers boaters with useful information on boating safety, boat show schedules, seamanship, and offers links to other marine related sites. A key element of the site is its articles on boating and learning how to boat. There are references to boating related magazines, books, and videos listed as well. It is a web site worth evaluating on your own.

Each year more than 70 million people take time to enjoy recreational boating in the United States. Discover Boating is one of many tools that we can use to encourage our friends to consider joining the fun and excitement that comes from being on the water. We will all benefit from increased participation in recreational boating.
