Nominate a group or individual that has made a difference in promoting clean boating for the BoatU.S. Environmental Leadership Award

Marina managers and volunteers with the Coast Guard Auxiliary are very familiar with the BoatU.S. Foundation and its efforts to promote boating safety and clean boating. The Foundation has taken these efforts a step further and has instituted a national Environmental Leadership Award.

Established as 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Foundations' stated goal is to be "…the leader in boating safety and environmental education and outreach, with the purpose of reducing accidents and fatalities, increasing stewardship of our waterways, and keeping boating a safe, accessible, and enjoyable pastime."

Marinas, organizations, or individuals that have made a significant contribution to advancing the clean boating concept and promoting environmental responsibility within the boating community are eligible for nomination for the award. This year's nomination deadline will be 15 February 2007. The award winner will be announced in the May 2007 issue of BoatU.S. Magazine and receive $500 to use in support of their clean boating activities.
