Three-dimensional nautical chart artwork from Latitude Kinsale can make a special gift, corporate bonus, or event award for the marine enthusiast in your life

A family owned business in Kinsale, County Cork, Ireland crafts some of the most unique maritime gifts imaginable. Bobby and Daire Nash of Latitude Kinsale create three dimensional marine artwork based on nautical charts. Products developed from nautical charts include three-dimensional chart art, chart artwork that portrays navigation lighting found on the selected charts, and three-dimensional charts built into pieces of fine furniture. Customers select a specific portion of terrain found on a published nautical chart and Latitude Kinsale develops the chart artwork for this area of interest. Subjects can range from a special anchorage, to a favorite harbor, or show the topography surrounding a beloved lighthouse.

Available Products - Latitude Kinsale products can take three forms:

  • Three-Dimensional (3D) Charts - Artwork is prepared from an area selected by the customer. Locations can reflect a special interest or provide a reminder of a favorite marine memory.
  • Coastal Light Chart - A 3D chart produced by Latitude Kinsale is outfitted with LED lights controlled by a microprocessor that recreates their actual location, color, and flashing sequence pattern of lighted navigational aids and lighthouses found on the chart. Framed in a shadow box, these pieces are spectacular and truly interactive. Viewers are drawn to the chart display and can see every topographic and lighting detail distinctive to the location.
  • Chart Tables - 3D charts can be built into fine furniture making the artwork an immediate family heirloom. A 3D chart mounted under glass within a coffee or lamp table can provide an ideal display case for the artwork. Since each piece is built to order, there is only one, and only one chart table made to displays your area of interest.

How are Charts Made? - The topographic outlines of shore and sea features found on an actual nautical chart are painstakingly cut out by the artists. Each section cut from the chart shows terrain detail in relief by mounting the cut chart portions on individual layers built up to match the chart contours. The finished artwork shows the authentic depth and topographic detail originally portrayed by the published chart.

Chart art gifts are appropriate for the hard to find please mariner in your family, make excellent prizes for nautical events, and can represent corporate reward programs in an exceptional manner. The artists require the following information to provide a proposal for your desired project:

  • Country
  • Specific information describing area of interest
  • Focal point on the chart of interest to you
  • Other special requests for the artists

Your project should reflect a specific location or focus area, and not be a request to reproduce an entire nautical chart. Latitude Kinsale often uses charts printed by the United Kingdom's Hydrographic Office, known as British Admiralty Charts, that are available for most locations found on earth.

Latitude Kinsale charts have been awarded in sailing events like the Swan Cup in Porto Cervo. The company can integrate corporate logos and nameplates smoothly into any of the chart products. Consider artwork from the Nash's as a gift for the sailor in your life.

As the Nash's like to say, "Remember Any Chart...... Anywhere in the World!"
