What to do in Huntington HarbourThe Harbour in Huntington Beach, CA Offers a lot of Daily ActivityFrom gondola cruises to kayaking, Huntington Harbour has romantic and exciting attractions. You will also find trendy shops and restaurants, and luxury boats and yachts.
Huntington Harbour is a picturesque jewel just north of Huntington Beach, located at Peter’s Landing Marina right off of Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). This canal-laden enclave reminds one of a very small scale Venice, Italy. It’s surrounded by trendy restaurants and boutiques, multi-million dollar homes, and luxury boats and yachts, many on private docks. The Harbour has five islands connected by channels and surrounding land. And although the harbour depicts a cool and serene atmosphere, it still draws a lot of bustling activity. Sunset GondolaFor a romantic tete a tete you may want to take a one hour, two mile cruise on a gondola through the Huntington Harbour canals. The gondolas are imported from Venice, Italy, have 13 foot oars and no poles. Many of the gondoliers will sing for you and take a complementary souvenir photo. The cost is $80 per hour for the first couple; $15 for each additional couple on one gondola. You can bring food and a beverage of your choice. Cups and ice will be provided, as well as blankets if the weather is chilly. Open daily from 11:00 a.m. until midnight. Located at a kiosk at 16370 Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Reservations are recommended (www.sunsetgondola.com) and are taken between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Sunset Kayak RentalsThis is just a bit south on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Though technically considered Sunset Beach, kayakers still use the Huntington Harbour to kayak. Sunset Rentals is open year round and group reservations are welcome. Single kayaks rent for $13 (1-2 hours) or $25 for the day. Double kayaks rent for $25 (1-2 hours) or $50 for the day. Triple kayaks rent for $ (1-2 hours) or $60 for the day. Finally, quad kayaks rent for $40 (1-2 hours) or $70 for the day. Paddle and life vest is included and state law requires that anyone 12 years and under must wear a vest. There are also unlimited monthly (single) kayak passes for $48, and boogie boards rentals for $15 per day. Gift certificates are always available. Located at 16862 Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Other Fun AttractionsBoats are also available to rent year round, and people can enjoy the several surrounding parks. The Pacific Ocean is also right across from Huntington Harbour (off of PCH) so depending on the weather, you may want to consider a nice stroll along the beach. And if you happen to be around during December you will definitely want to catch Cruise of Lights, the narrated evening holiday voyages. The colorful decorations and the beautiful lights are a stunning sight, and are not only festive, but romantic as well. Nightly 45-minute cruises begin in mid-December and the boats accommodate 100 people.
