This is excellent information to have. I think that even as a passenger it is important to be able to recognize warning signals and initiate a distress call.

Having your passengers learn how to operate the boat and call for help is a great idea. We also spend time teaching boaters how to rescue people that have fallen overboard. It's much harder getting someone back in a boat than you might think. Boating is a great activity, but it does not reward the unprepared.
