» Feature Writer Jill Browne - Does the race start in Rushcutter's Bay?

Not being a sailor, I don't know much about this race. In July I was in Sydney and happened to be staying in a hotel near Rushcutter's Bay. We were told that the annual race to Hobart starts from there. The website from Rolex (your link in the article) says the start is Sydney Harbour, which I thought was on the other side of the point from Rushcutters Bay.
Any chance that someone can clarify this? Thanks.

My read of it is that the race starts in Sydney Harbor. The sponsoring yacht club, Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, is located in Rushcutter's Bay, which is part of Sydney Harbor. I found a map link that shows the yacht club:

It's likely the yacht club site would too constrained for 80 boats to lineup for a start.
